Hi, I’m Ashley, the Central Region Coordinator for Connector NL. I’m happy you stopped by to learn more about Connector NL and if you are new to Central NL or any area of the province, Welcome! I am based in Grand Falls-Windsor, and I partner with the Exploits Regional Chamber of Commerce on some projects, but I serve in the entire beautiful region of Central, from the Baie Verte Peninsula to Terra Nova Park, and Harbour Breton to Twillingate.
A little bit about me; I was born and raised in Green Bay South, NL – you may be familiar with the brick wall on the highway that says, “Welcome to Scenic Green Bay”, followed by a long stretch of birch trees, that’s me! As many others from the area, I left home after high school in search of a degree and work. I spent almost 12 years in St. John’s where I met fantastic people, worked with wonderful companies, and took in many great opportunities, but I was never content. I was always wanting to be living and working in Central NL, supporting local businesses and promoting the region while living in the region; I wanted to be home.
I’m very passionate about Connector NL because I want others to discover the value and opportunity in this region. When I finished my degree, nobody encouraged me to move back here and work, and at the time I didn’t see any opportunities equal to what I could obtain in St. John’s. I am not here to knock anyone who has decided to leave this region for an opportunity, I did it too. However, I always felt the pull back to this place and to be boots-on-the-ground to help wherever I could, so here I am.
With Connector NL, we strive to help our Connectors and Connectees grow their network and strengthen their roots in the community. We won’t promise to find you a job; there are very few people on this earth who can make that promise, but we do promise to help you get connected. For our province to grow we need all regions and all sectors of the economy to succeed. Whether you have lived in one town your entire life, you are just moving in, or you are moving back, we can all play a part in strengthening our community.
So, Welcome! Let’s Connect, and Let’s Get Started.
